Reincarnation Au! Uchiha Itachi x Reader Everything was quiet.
The full moon was in its highest position, timid rays of its delicate light leaked between branches as large shadows were drawn by the tall trees.
(H/c) tresses flew in the air, as its owner ran through the woods looking frenetically to one side and then to the other. The girl was searching desperately, knowing she was running out of time.
The teenager increased her speed when she saw the forest clearing in front of her. The (e/c) eyed girl stopped once she stepped inside of it. She was panting and put her hand on her chest, trying to regulate her breathing.
As the girl started to walk carefully, trying to see a figure between the trees, a deep voice made her freeze on her spot. “(Name)”
Her head turned around sharply towards the sound. Her heart started beating painfully fast as (e/c) eyes clashed with red ones. The night breeze blew softly, making the leaves susurrate between them at the same time that (Name) examined her companion.
He was only a few steps away from her, at the end of the shadow of the trees. The only thing she could distinguish was those deep scarlet eyes. It weren´t the same soft and gentle eyes she knew. And when he stepped in the light, (Name) gasped horrified.
“Itachi” The adolescent put her hands on her mouth, as she took his appearance completely. His Konoha forehead protector was slashed, marking him as a traitor and his blood stained clothes were the proof of his recent crime “What have you done?”
“What are you doing here, (Name)?” The girl took note of the kunai he was holding in his hand. She was in shock.
He was her best friend. (Name) knew him since they were little. Itachi was one of the most peaceful people she had ever met. The (e/c) eyed girl didn´t know nor could imagine what reasons could make him murder his own family. “Why?”
“Are you here to stop me?” he asked with a dead voice, ignoring her question once again. Just the way he was looking at her, with cold eyes, as if she didn´t meant anything to him was enough to make her heart ache. The (h/c) haired girl gulped.
“As a Konoha´s ninja I should” It took all of her willpower to control her tremulous voice “but as your friend…” she inhaled deeply, blinking several times to contain the tears “I can´t bring myself to do it”
Just as she whispered the last part, before she could react, Itachi moved towards her. As she stared into those severe crimson eyes, (Name) felt a cold smooth and sharp object pressed against her neck. She bit her trembling lip.
“I could kill you right now and yet you´re here saying such foolish things.” Those crimson eyes were staring at her with no love, no hate, no wrath, no sadness, no guilt… absolutely nothing. “I´ve destroyed my entire clan… do you really think I care for you?”
(Name) stood there, staring at him in silence as tears started to pour out from her eyes.
Her heart throbbed in agony as she remember every memory they had shared together. How many afternoons did they spend playing with each other in the past? How many times did he comforted her when she cried? How many times did they spend talking and eating dangos? How many times did she stand by his side when everyone in the academy feared him?
And that night, a month ago. Before everything started collapsing. The festival where the fireworks tainted with beautiful colours the dark sky. It was so crowded. She still remember how rough and callous his hand was when he took hers, how naturally their fingers laced, how they never let go until the end.
And then, Itachi put a flower on her hair as he gazed at her with those gentle and loving onyx eyes. It was then that (Name) realized that the Uchiha boy was slowly becoming her first love.
Her vision blurred from all the teardrops and a broken lament escaped from her throat. The (e/c) eyed teenager refused to believe it. It was impossible that everything was a lie. Even though she wasn´t a genius like him, (Name) wasn´t dumb. She was sure there was a cause behind something so atrocious. It had to be.
“I-I trust y-you” The (h/c) haired girl sobbed quietly. “Y-you are the most comp-passionate person I´ve ever met. I-I can´t believe this mask you´re showing me” (Name) caressed his cheek tenderly, smiling bitterly at him. Not even realising the slight tremble on the hand that held the kunai.
“I k-know I can´t stop you from leaving the village b-but” She stopped, trying unsuccessfully to stop her whimpers “I-if nothing of this happened… w-would you…” (Name) could barely hold her emotions “h-have stayed here… w-with me?”
Rough fingers wiped her tears. Her eyes widened and before the kunoichi could react, a feather kiss was placed on her lips. It was full of tender and innocent devotion. (Name) enjoyed it with all her heart, knowing it was the only thing Itachi could give to her.
The night breeze blew softly, twirling their locks and muffling the dark haired male´s answer after he broke the kiss. (Name) opened her eyes and was met by the Uchiha´s broken and sorrowful expression. It was the last time she saw him, before he disappeared.
As his last words resonated in her mind over and over again, the (h/c) haired girl´s emotions went out of control. Her legs felt weak and the teenager collapsed on her knees. Her hands covered her face, trying to muffle her mourning laments, trying to contain, in vain, her endless tears. Crying about what would have been but it could never be.
…Not in that lifeAnd that was a piece of the latest work of (F/n) (L/n), whose trilogy ‘The secret tale of Konoha´s village’ has established her as one of the best writers of historic novels in the last few years. Even though the plot centres itself on a love story, the books written by this incredible writer reflect perfectly the atmosphere, the traditions and the society of 500 hundred years ago.
Hundreds of people have waited in front of the bookshops for a couple of hours just to buy the newest book of this writer, which is going to become a new best seller with almost all prob-
The man turned off the car, silencing the radio with it, not caring about the publicity of the same book that remained in the seat beside him. He was very aware of the fact that if it wasn´t for those novels, he wouldn´t have remembered his previous life.
The male got out of the car, not taking interest in the dazzling gazes some woman gave him, only wanting to see his soulmate after 500 hundred years. He could imagine how long she had waited for him, and he didn´t wish to make her suffer anymore.
He just hoped, (Name) could forgive him.
A (h/c) haired woman pushed the crystal door of the coffee shop.
The summer heat was replaced by the coolness of the air conditions of the local. She felt how the coffee scent invade her nostrils. (Name) smiled to herself, enjoying the calm atmosphere, as there were few costumers inside. As she walked towards the counter, her (e/c) eyes travelled through the shop.
The beige walls, the vintage posters, the comfortable and dark sofas, the rounded tables and the colourful cushions… Everything was the same since the last time the writer visited it. (Name) felt at home in that shop, for she spent entire days there, with a hot mug of coffee and her laptop writing her books.
It was a completely surprise that the trilogy ‘The secret tale of Konoha´s village’ became a success in such a short time. The critics prayed her about how realistic the books were, every detail about the time, the culture, and the description of the places, absolutely everything was accord with every historical record of the place. Everyone thought, the young writer had to spend a couple of years or more in order to gain all that information. How wrong they were.
If only they knew that the books were only the reflection of her desperation. It wasn´t the product of years of investigation and a creative mind. It was the result of hundreds of years longing for him, of thousands of days looking and searching for him without any success, of countless of dreams plagued by him, by his voice, by his eyes. The books were her story with Itachi, written with hope that one day, he would read it and realise that, after all the centuries apart, (Name) kept waiting for him.
“(Name)-san, it´s been a while” a girl with big green eyes and black hair greeted cheerfully, making the (h/c) haired woman interrupt her thoughts.
“Hi, Aoi-chan.” (Name) smiled to her “I´ve been very busy this last month. How´s school going?”
“I little bit stressful.” She sighed. “Teachers won´t stop pestering us about choosing a university and I still don´t know what I want to do. You’re ordering the usual, I take?”
“Don´t worry, you still have almost a year.” (Name) reassured her. Last year of school was always full of nervousness and uncertainty “Yes, please”
“To drink here or take away?”
“Okay.” Aoi turned her head “Large mocha coffee to drink here, please!” she ordered “It will be 3.10 dollars”
“Here” The (h/c) haired woman handed the money “I´ll go to the bathroom while the coffee it´s done”
“No problem, (Name)-san!” exclaimed cheerfully the assistant.
As the (e/c) eyed writer went to the toilet, she faintly heard the melodious bell of the door, signalling the entrance of a new costumer. A few minutes later, (Name) came back to take her mug and was met by a very excited Aoi.
“(Name)-san! Here” the teenager handed her a book. The woman eyed the object confused as she didn´t understand why Aoi was giving her the story she had written herself. “A man had entered a few moments ago and asked me to give you this. He told me than you only need to open it” The assistant shrugged. “If you want to know, he was very hot” Aoi giggled.
As she took a sip of her favourite hot drink, (Name) opened the book and that was all it took to make her freeze on her spot. The cup of coffee slipped from her hand. She never heard how it crashed in the floor. She didn´t feel the burn on her left foot, as some of the liquid splashed on it. Every cell on her body, was focused on the simple sentence that was inscribed in an elegant handwriting, decorating the white page.
I´ll find you in our next lifetime
Her heart started beating strongly as it recognised those words. The words that were forever engraved in her soul. The words that weren´t written in the book, only kept in her memory. Words that could be known by only one person.
And that sole thought made her whole world crumble. The (h/c) haired woman looked around wildly, searching for those loved onyx eyes. The ones she had been hoping to see for hundreds of years, the ones that plagued her dreams. As she couldn´t find them, desperation started to grow in her heart.
“Aoi” she called with a trembling voice cutting the teenager´s words of worry. “T-the man who gave you this… Where is he?”
“Oh... That guy?” The shop assistant blinked “He left and turn- (Name)-san?!”
The writer run to the door, not letting the girl finish. The (h/c) haired woman pushed the door with all her force, not wanting to waste any second. She looked frenetically from one side to another, barely hearing the sound of the cars.
(Name) went to the right, where the tables of the coffee shop were, and turned the corner around. Her heart started to beat as if was going to burn in her chest as her (e/c) eyes looked at the figure that was a few steps in front of her.
It was a man, a little bit taller than her. He had long and dark hair, tied up in his usual low ponytail. The male was looking at the street, with his hands in his jeans’ pockets. As he turned his head to look at her, (Name) bit her trembling lower lip. He was taller, manlier and more handsome than the 13 years old boy she felt in love in a previous life. But those caring onyx eyes and that sad but warm smile… (Name) would recognised them anywhere.
“(Name)” it was a deep husky welcoming whisper that make her run towards him.
The writer collided with him with enough force to knock the air out of his lungs before she hugged him tightly. Itachi´s eyes widened in surprise, as he had expected her to yell at him and be angry. He enveloped her, feeling her body tremble as the male inhaled deeply her scent “I´m sorry I took so long”
(Name) was so overwhelmed that it took her a moment to regain her voice. She inhaled deeply, his unfamiliar yet nostalgic scent filling her nose, before looking at him. “This time, I won´t let you go…” She murmured, her voice hoarser from crying.
Itachi eyed her softly, joining their foreheads. After all he did in his previous life, the dark haired male didn´t understand what he had done to deserve her. But this time, he would do anything in his power to make it work.
It was their second chance.
Finally found you
